Larry Butz: Ace Attorney

My AU in which Larry is the defense attorney, Phoenix is the demon prosecutor who needs saving and Edgeworth is the trouble maker.

Larry, Phoenix, and Edgeworth were really close friends, though he and Nick had a closer relationship since they went to high school together (Edgeworth went to a performing arts school). Larry wasn’t a good student and was pretty hesitant about going to college. Phoenix had to convince him many times not to drop out of high school and tried to encourage him to at least try college. After they graduated high school everything changed; Phoenix wouldn’t talk to him anymore. He grew cold and distant and acted like they were strangers. He moved away and Larry heard nothing about him until he started prosecuting. Larry figures that not only he can look cool and stop being a disappointment to his parents, he could also track down Nick if he became a lawyer. So he forces himself to finish school and become a lawyer under Mia’s firm.

Phoenix got interested in law after going over Edgeworth’s house a lot as a kid and talking to Gregory Edgeworth about it. He’d borrow a lot of law books from him (though he couldn’t really understand legalese). Because of that he was really inspired to be a defense attorney. He was good friends with Larry and Edgeworth up until a certain incident took place at Dusky Bridge. From then on he threw away his dream of being a defense attorney holding a grudge against Mia Fey. He wanted to prosecute criminals and was looking for anyway to be the best and ran into Manfred von Karma and begged him to teach him. von Karma gave in and taught Phoenix the ways of perfection. 

Edgeworth had thought about law since he admired his dad, but the day he couldn’t do the paper crane really upset him to the point where he vowed to be a perfectionist at the arts. He went to art school and eventually landed a job animating an adaption of the Steel Samurai. After the DL-6 incident happened Tateyuki (Gregory Edgeworth's assistant from AAI2) adopts him and raises him the best he can. Hates Manfred von Karma and finds Franziska annoying. Pretty disdainful of Nick being mentored by von Karma, so they aren’t on the best terms. Also has a tendency to get into many strange and awkward situations that aren’t his fault with numerous unwanted suitors…
